• Billy Herron Memorial TFD Fishing Tournament is almost here!
    Updated On: Feb 05, 2016
Following is the original notification from Casey Cabaniss about the annual TFD Fishing tournament and fish fry, plus some extra notes: WHEN: This year's dates are on April 12th and 13th (A and B shifts). The fish fry is held after weigh in on day two, April 13th. Even if you don't fish, you can't beat the food and company!! WHERE: Oscar?s lot on Lake Tyler. Directions will be posted soon! Check back! There has been discussion about having a change of venue since we have had it on Tyler for a long time. Since the biggest push of the fish fry is the gathering of the retirees, Oscar?s place provides a good place to spread out and you don?t have to worry about if we have enough room for anyone. If anyone has a suggestion about another area let me know. WHO: Same as always, Have to be a firefighter (current or retired) or fish with one. We have averaged 10-12 teams over the last few years. Only ONE team member needs to be a firefighter, so if you have a fishing buddy, spouse, brother, or someone else you want to fish with, bring them on!! Since we have had such a hiring frenzy over the last few years I would sure like to see more of our young guys come out to the fish fry. It gives an opportunity to meet the retirees that have forged the path of the TFD. Also, young guys, without your participation events such as this will eventually come to an end, giving us, and you, less events and camaradarie to look forward to in your retirement. Even if you don't fish, come out and visit! If any of you younger guys have a boat don?t be scared to come out and fish, the fee is 20.00 per team with 100% payout to stringer and big bass evenly. Casey also threw down the gauntlet on all the recently hired guys, with the following: Just to see if any of you young guys are up to the challenge, if you are a first time entry to the Tournament and weigh in more fish than I do, I will pay for your entry fee. I don?t think I?m going to have to worry about too much though. Just to clarify ?younger guys? This is any team that have less ?time in? than I do (one or both guys). 01-03-2001.
